Sales & Negotiations: About Us

Jon HawesThe mission of the Sales and Negotiations Center is to serve as a focal point for sales education and sales training at Indiana State University. We do this through our community outreach and sales training, our interactions with our Sales Advisory Council, our sponsorship of our Sales Career Exploration Events each semester, and most importantly, our work with outstanding young professional who are working toward completion of one of our sales education programs.

Our sales education programs include the Sales Management Track within our Marketing Major, an opportunity to Minor in Sales and Negotiations, and our two certificate programs: the Certificate in Insurance Sales or the Certificate in Medical Sales. All of these programs make extensive use of our Sales and Negotiations Laboratory in which our students engage in a variety of Skill Practice Exercises that are recorded and reviewed with a goal of continuous improvement. The advantage of this experiential approach to sales education is that our students receive a more relevant, applications-oriented sales education. The benefit for students and employers is that our graduates know what a career in selling is all about, they are ready to hit the ground running, and they quickly become highly productive salespeople.
